BSAC XC Champs
Clune Woods, Durris, Saturday 25 March 2017
Well done to all the runners who took part in the BSAC XC champs race last Saturday.
Some excellent competitive racing was had by all. The day was a beauty, the going firm to soft, the courses definitely on the short, but very hilly side - good training for junior hill runners....
Thanks to all the helpers, without whom the race wouldn't happen - good effort guys!
Best wishes for the summer season.

Clare Continues Her XC Success
Another good race for BSAC's Clare Stewart as she represented Scottish Schools at the SIAB+Home Countries International at Port Talbot, Wales last weekend. Clare finished in 9th position helping the Scotland Schools team to silver. Clare's next challenge will be in London when she runs for Scotland in the Mini Marathon on the 23rd April.
Lindsays scottishathletics National XC Championships
Callendar Park, Falkirk, Saturday 25 February 2017
The spectacular mud made for challenging conditions at Callendar Park on Saturday but every one of our mud loving athletes acquitted themselves well and did BSAC proud.
Clare Stewart was our top finisher taking bronze in the U17W. Also in the U17W was Frances Sealy, with Eve Sealy running in the U20W race. Emma Swanson just missed out on a medal finishing 4th U13G. Other U13G finishers included, Izzy Thomson, Isla Long, Cara Davie and Abbie Crawford. The U13B featured Kane Noble, Rory Baird and Matthew Mair with U15B Connor Melvin. A huge well done and Congratulations to everyone. Results on Scottish Athletics |

Cross Country Success for Clare Stewart
BSAC athlete Clare Stewart has been enjoying much XC success this season:
At the Great Edinburgh Cross Country event on 7th January at Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, Clare Stewart won an individual first place in the U17W Inter Districts Championships, representing Scotland East District, with a subsequent first place win for her team too. This race also incorporated the Junior Internationals (U20s), where Clare finished in fourth place, ahead of five U20 international athletes. Two weeks later, at the British Athletics Cross Challenge in Cardiff, Clare ran in the U20 women’s race which also comprised the Celtic Nations race (Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and Ireland). She finished 7th overall, 6th in the Celtic Nations and 4th in British Cross Challenge. (Winning £50 for her 4th place!) The team competition was very close between Ireland and Scotland with Scotland winning the U20W Celtic Nations! |

Haddo House XC Races Saturday 22 January 2017, Haddo Estate, Methlick
East League XC Events various dates
East League cross country events have had lone appearances from Joe Wright 26th U17 at Stirling and Calum Kitching 38th at Alloa. These events are worth plugging as they are extremely large competitive fields. Next year?
East District Champs Saturday 3 December 2016, Balgownie, Aberdeen
The East District Championship races in Balgownie saw a really strong showing from our U13 athletes: the girls led in by Emma Swanson (17th), Izzy Thompson (22nd) and Isla long (31st) finished an excellent 6th team; the boys packed well with Jack Manley (36th), Matthew Mair (37th) and Rory Baird (42nd) to finish as 7th team. Meanwhile, at U15 level, Shannon Brown (32nd) and Josh Benton (17th) flew the BSAC flag in tough competitive races. Ben Taylor was 35th in a high class U17M field. Success for the U17W, as Clare Stewart (2nd), Rosa Hare (21st) and Frances Sealy (29th) pulled all the stops out to claim team silver! For the male vets, Alan Sealy (34th) and Bob Auckland (76th) shone in a young field.
Knockburn Cross Country Races Sunday 13th November 2016, Knockburn Loch, Banchory
A total of 242 runners braved the cold, wind and rain to take part in our annual XC event with a good BSAC turnout and much success:
The U11G were top team with Ailsa Long (3), Rowan Beaton (5) and Erica Beaton (8) leading the way. A great U11B turnout had Elliott Rowe (2) top of the pile, from Calum Clunie (11), John Milne (12), Reese Milne (13), Noah Yudu (15) and James Donald (31). U13B had Jack Manley (6) and Rory Baird (8) one runner short of a full team, whilst U13G were too strong for the competition with Emma Swanson (1), Izzy Thompson (2), Isla Long (7) winning top team, ably backed up by Cara Davie (8), Izzy Parnaby (13), Anna Ross (19) and Emily Mercer (20). The U15G team of Anna Fletcher (8), Kate Hare (9) and Maia Cowie (10) packed well to claim top team. Mysteriously, there were no U15B? Ben Taylor (3) and Matthew Greig (8) needed a third U17B, whereas there was not much doubt about the U17G competition with Clare Stewart, Rosa Hare, Claire McGarvey and Frances Sealy taking the top 4 places and the team prize. Finally, the in the adult 3 mile races, Calum Kitching was 2nd male, Andrew Ferguson 7th MV and Bob Auckland 9th MV, with Kath Fraser 3rd FV.

National Relay XC Champs Saturday 22 October 2016, Cumbernauld
On the National stage, the relays had our girls team of Anna Ross, Shannon Brown and Clare Stewart finishing 46th and most of a senior mens team of Ben Leftwich, Andrew Ferguson and Bob Auckland. One of this team lowered the average age by over 10 years..... The Short course competition saw Shannon Brown in 70th and Andrew F in 339th, illustrating the size and strength of National XC competitions in Scotland at present. It's really impressive for a small club to achieve success in team competitions, requiring strength in depth - well done all!
East District XC Relays 8th October 2016, Livingston
BSAC take Silver Medals at first Cross Country Event of the Season
In the relays at Livingstone our junior girls dream team of Emma Swanson, Shannon Brown and Clare Stewart won SILVER! Great performances also from Isla long, Izzy Thompson and Frances Sealy (22nd) and from Kate Fletcher, Cara Davie and Anna Fletcher (30th). Really great to see 3 teams entered - well done girls. Great runs also from Rory Baird in the lead-off leg of a boys team, and from a very sprightly mens veteran team of Sam Long, Alan Sealy, Andrew Ferguson and Steve Baird who finished a highly creditable 12th vets team.
