High Jump Fan Open Day, Sunday 11th June 2017

On Sunday 11th June we are holding an opening ceremony for our new High Jump/Javelin Fan. Registration is at 12:30 for a 1:00pm start. There will be a High Jump event, Javelin event, and a special handicap sprint event. It's a fun day, so don't worry if you think HJ is a bit difficult...
There will be free teas and cakes, and an eloquent, pithy (and short) speech from El Presidente. And if all goes according to a most cunning plan, the new HJ cover and the full size competition mat will be delivered next week too ready for the event. So what more can you ask? I look forward to seeing you all down at Alexander Park next Sunday.

HJ fan update, 14th February 2017
Tarmac is all down, and the old surface has been removed from the long jump run-up track. We just have to wait for the warmer weather now to get the final polymeric surface applied. Hopefully will be done in March/April, ready for the summer season. If you're passing by then go down and have a look, it's quite impressive.
Work Begins at Alexander Park, 23rd January 2017
Easyfundraising for HJ Fan Project
Hi everyone,
Banchory Stonehaven Athletics Club is now registered with easyfundraising so whenever you shop online, you can help us get a little closer to our target for the high jump fan!
There are over 3,000 shops and sites in the scheme, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's – they make the donation, it doesn't cost you a penny.
Here's how it works:
1. Head to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/banchorystonehavenathleticsclub/ and join for free.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to your good cause for no extra cost whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges - this is just a great way to support your club.
Thank you for your support and happy Christmas shopping!

BSAC High Jump Fan/Javelin Run Up Project
Dear Parents and Athletes,
Over the last few years, the committee has been trying to get a project off the ground to build a 17m x 30m all-weather surface at Alexander Park to use as a high jump run-up area, a javelin run-up and general all-weather training area for our athletes. This facility will allow us to teach more athletes high jump and javelin skills throughout more of the year when the grass areas are difficult to use.
This is a project costing around £70,000.
In July we had some excellent news: sportscotland has awarded the club a grant of £35,000 to build the facility. The club will be contributing £17,500 from existing funds, and we need to raise a further £17,500 to complete the project. We aim to start construction in 2017 in order to have the facility ready for the 2017 summer season.
The club needs everyone to pull together to help raise this final £17,500. Angela and Hugh McGarvey are leading this effort. We’re therefore asking you all to help us by:
If we can pull together many donations, even if they are modest, we believe we will be able to quickly reach our target. We already have donations of £2,000 and £350 towards the project.
If you have questions, ideas, suggestions, offers, please email Angela and Hugh at [email protected]. However, we ask that prior to making contact with a potential donor please review with Hugh and Angela in ordr that we co-ordinate approaches to potential donors, thus avoiding multiple approaches to the same organisation. Making contact and requests using person contacts can be more fruitful than cold calling. Attached is a document with details about the project and the club that you can use when discussing with potential sponsors. We have just issued a press release on the project and the sportscotland grant. For potential donors/sponsors, we will be aiming to involve them all in an inauguration ceremony and any publicity we might get in 2017. For any general information on the project itself, please contact us.
Many thanks,
Banchory Stonehaven Athletics Club

- Contacting any businesses or organisations you might have contacts with to see if they would be interested in supporting the project
- Contacting your employers, to see if they donate to community projects such as this.
- Letting us have any ideas for fund-raising, or indeed offering to run a fund-raising activity for the club.
