Grampian Athletics League 2016
GIRLS TEAM
It is that time of year again, after a winter of cross country and indoor meetings, it is time to get back outside to track and field. For those who don’t know me, my name is Heather Thomson and I am co-ordinating the Girls team for the Grampian Athletics league this year. This is a great league for athletes to gain experience of competition and a good opportunity to work on PB’s and improve chances of selection for other matches.
Please email or call if you have any queries about anything. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!! Heather email: [email protected]

BOYS TEAM
Hi everyone, my name is Hazel Keir and this year I have taken on the role of both YDL and GAL boys team manager. I am looking forward to another athletics summer season and hope to see as many as you as possible taking part and having a go. The BSAC crew all love to see our club vest on the track and in the field events and you can be sure you will always be cheered on. Remember it’s all about having fun and gaining experience, and the competitions are a great way to try all different events and improve on your own personal bests. Any questions please ask.
Look forward to hearing from you! Hazel |

Event Information
You can compete in up to three events plus a relay. Your team manager will email you before each event asking who is available to compete and your preferred event(s).Try not to limit yourself to a specific type of event, although if you intend to compete in any hurdles races, you should already have experience/or at least have included hurdles in a training session.
Taking part in an event that you may not have tried before or don't feel you excel at will still gain points for your team and advance you in the overall league.
Please note it is not possible to give all of you your preferred events and team managers will use PBs in their selection process. If you don't have a PB then being a non-counter at one event is a great way to get one and catapult you into the team for the next event.
Those of you who attended the Club open meetings at the start of the season will be aware that there are 4 Grampian League events and a final during the summer months and there is an expectation that as a member of BSAC you make yourselves available for selection.
The event list for the Grampian League is as follows, so that you are well aware of what is involved in each meeting and when and where it takes place:
Sunday 1 May - Aberdeen Sports Village
Sunday 29 May - Dundee
Sunday 26 June - Perth
Sunday 7 August - Aberdeen
Sunday 11 September - Inverness (qualifying teams only)
See below for timetable of events at each venue.
Please take some time to have a look at the Grampian Athletics website to make yourselves familiar with the rules and regulations before the event.
Finally, BSAC has an obligation to provide volunteers on the day of each event to assist with timekeeping, track and field events, judging etc. Please let me know if you can help.
